A Bartholin's Gland Cyst represents the cystic dilation of a duct within the Bartholin's glands, which are situated on each side of the vaginal opening. This condition occurs when the duct becomes obstructed, leading to a buildup of fluid and resulting in a localized swelling.
Although the swelling may begin as a simple cyst, an abscess can form if the trapped fluid becomes infected. Clinical documentation typically refers to this condition as a Bartholin's gland cyst or, in the presence of infection, a Bartholin's abscess.
