📋Overview
Cervical Ectropion, which is also referred to as cervical erosion or ectopy, occurs when the columnar epithelium cells typically found inside the cervix spread to the vaginal portion of the cervix. This tissue is more delicate than the squamous cells that usually cover the outer cervix, but the condition is considered a normal variation rather than a precursor to cancer.
This occurrence is frequently linked to elevated estrogen levels and is commonly seen in individuals who are pregnant or using hormonal contraception. It is also a frequent clinical observation in younger individuals during puberty.
