
Fong Disease
๐Overview
Fong Disease is a legacy term historically used to describe a rare genetic disorder now more commonly known as Nail-Patella Syndrome (NPS). NPS is characterized by abnormalities of the nails, kneecaps (patellae), elbows, and pelvis. It is an inherited condition caused by mutations in the LMX1B gene and follows an autosomal dominant pattern. The modern preferred term is Nail-Patella Syndrome.
