๐Overview
Molar pregnancy is a type of gestational trophoblastic disease characterized by abnormal growth of trophoblastic tissue within the uterus following fertilization. It is a form of nonviable pregnancy where the placenta develops into a mass of cysts rather than a normal embryo. The term "molar pregnancy" encompasses complete and partial hydatidiform moles, which are the modern preferred classifications.
