Morvan Disease
๐Overview
Morvan disease is a rare autoimmune neurological disorder characterized by peripheral nerve hyperexcitability, autonomic dysfunction, and central nervous system symptoms. It is considered part of the spectrum of autoimmune encephalitis and neuromyotonia syndromes. The condition is associated with antibodies against voltage-gated potassium channels (VGKC), particularly targeting proteins such as LGI1 and CASPR2. Morvan disease is sometimes referred to as Morvan syndrome, but the modern preferred term is autoimmune encephalitis with peripheral nerve hyperexcitability.
