πOverview
Trastuzumab is a targeted therapy classified as a monoclonal antibody. It works by identifying and binding to specific proteins called human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) found on the surface of certain cells.
Once attached to these receptors, the medication interferes with the signals that promote cell growth and division. This mechanism is intended to inhibit the proliferation of cells that overproduce the HER2 protein.
